Mike Lawler, MS, MFT-IT

I have experience working with teenagers facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, and more. I create a space where young people feel safe, seen, and supported through the complexities of adolescence—whether their struggles stem from school, home, work, or social environments.

My approach is warm, collaborative, active, and identity-affirming. I believe that self-awareness and meditation are powerful tools for personal and relational growth, and I aim to create a therapeutic space where people of all backgrounds feel valued and heard.

Before becoming a therapist, I had a career in the performing arts. That creative foundation continues to shape the way I connect with others. You can still see my set designs on Madison stages—staying creatively active is essential to me. Because of this, I have a particular interest in supporting fellow artists and makers in therapy.

As a longtime member of the Madison community, I’m deeply invested in the well-being of those around me. Whether you're hoping to strengthen a relationship, heal from past wounds, or move through a difficult chapter, I’m here to walk beside you—surefooted, confident, and compassionate.

As a cancer survivor and adoptive parent, I know firsthand how life's challenges shape us. These experiences inform how I show up as a therapist: with compassion, steadiness, and a belief that healing happens in relationships. I use a systemic, identity-affirming approach to support couples, teens, families, and individuals.

Relationships are at the heart of my work. I bring a systemic approach to mental health and healing and use specialized training in the Gottman Method to help couples navigate challenges, rebuild trust, and deepen their connection.
